Q: What does the name "Duwende" mean?
A: From Wikipedia:
"Duende is a difficult-to-define word used in the Spanish arts, including performing arts. From the original meaning (a fairy- or goblin-like creature in Spanish and Latin American mythology), the artistic and especially musical term was derived. "Tener duende" ("having duende") can be loosely translated as having soul, a heightened state of emotion, expression and authenticity, often connected with flamenco."
Q: Where can I get a copy of your arrangements?
A: We learn all of our arrangements by ear -- our soprano, Abbey, does all of our arranging by recording our parts individually and sending us mp3's of the completed track.
However, we encourage you to transcribe our arrangements and teach them to whomever you like! If you get stuck on a part, contact us and we'll help you through it!
It's a huge thrill for us to have groups from all over the world (!) perform our arrangements by transcribing them. All that we ask is that you give proper credit when applicable.
Q: Why did you choose to do a Michael Jackson cover album?
A: The short answer? We are all huge fans of his music!
The long answer? We had never recorded a cover song before. We were prepared to record another original follow up album to "Collective" when we decided to change it up and try to sing/perform the music of one of our idols. It proved to be much harder than we thought -- the original songs themselves were done to perfection and we had no intention of trying to out-do Michael. Instead, we wanted to honor the music itself and have a good time together in the studio. The end result is something we are proud of!
